Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States in 2014, as she landed a part as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson played Alison Lockhart who is a young troubled woman who comes from a rough background. Lockhart has a crush on an unmarried Noah Solloway. Wilson won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress In A Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson in an interview with British Vogue back in 2015 stated that she was enjoying playing characters from two different viewpoints. Noah thinks of Alison as this confident reckless sexy version of herself. Her self-image is seen as a different person. From the inside she's not sure and wants to blend into the background. Wilson added that she does believe that America is so moralistic and so judgmental that what happens on the show seems to be shocking. Wilson left the show in 2018 after a lot of fans' surprise, however she was vague about the particulars. I wanted to leave however it's not my job to explain the reason. She said in an interview with CBS This Morning conducted in August of 2018. Wilson is currently focusing her efforts on films. She starred in the 2016 film of horror I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house and played the cryptic PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add more of the terror genre to her credits, she's set to be a part of the British adaptation to film of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller based on the novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson will also serve as executive producing this film.
